Printing

Printing the documents and spreadsheets is easy. Simple click on the print icon in the upper left corner of the document or spreadsheet window, or you can access the "Print" menu item in the "File" menu, also in the upper left corner.

How to print Google Docs and Google Sheets

The benefit to printing is that each document will retain its formatting. However, this obviously means you can't update or customize it. The benefit to downloading (see below) is that you can update and customize it. However, some of the format will be lost when you download.

​In general, we recommend that you try to print the documents and spreadsheets first.

Downloading Documents & Spreadsheets

You can view the spreadsheets and documents for the retreat, but you cannot edit them directly, otherwise everyone would see your personal edits. If you'd like to customize and update the spreadsheets and documents to fit your needs, you must download them. Take a look below at the instructions for downloading documents and spreadsheets...

Downloading Documents

How to download a Google Doc
  1. Open the document you want to download.
  2. Hover your mouse over the "File" menu.
  3. Hover over the "Download as" sub-menu.
  4. Click on "Microsoft Word (.docx)" or whichever format you'd like to download in.
  5. Find the document on your computer, make your changes and save it.

Downloading Spreadsheets

How to download a Google Sheet
  1. Open the spreadsheet you want to download.
  2. Hover your mouse over the "File" menu.
  3. Hover over the "Download as" sub-menu.
  4. Click on "Microsoft Excel (.xlsx)" or whichever format you'd like to download in.
  5. Find the spreadsheet on your computer, make your changes and save it.

Copying Google Slides, Documents & Spreadsheets

In some cases, you'll want to edit a slide deck, document, or spreadsheet directly. But you can't just start editing the original because then everyone who uses Light of the World around the country will see your changes. You'll need to copy it to your own Google Drive first, and then you can start editing your own personal version.

How to download a Google Sheet
  1. Open the slides, document, or spreadsheet you want to copy.
  2. Hover your mouse over the "File" menu.
  3. Hover over the "Make a copy" sub-menu.
  4. Click on "Entire presentation."
  5. Follow the instructions in the pop-up dialog box to give the file a name, and pay attention to the Google Drive "Folder" in which you're saving the copy.
  6. Click the "OK" button in the pop-up dialog box to finish copying.
  7. Go to your Google Drive, open the copy you made, and edit away!
