This October saw the implementation of the LOTW Process in the Southern Hemisphere! On the weekends of October 17-19 and October 24-26, Leadership Retreats were held for parishes of the Diocese of Broken Bay New South Wales, Australia.

The first retreat was held at Mater Maria College in Warriewood, 30 minutes Northeast of Sydney. It was attended by parishioners of the Catholic Parish of Pittwater. Pittwater has two churches, Sacred Heart in Mona Vale and Maria Regina in Avalon.  Also in attendance at this retreat were representatives of the Parish Support Unit of the Diocese, including its Director Ann Maree Whenman.

The Second Retreat was held at the Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, The Entrance, New South Wales.  It was attended by parishioners from Our Lady of the Rosary, and by several representatives of two other "Central Cost" parishes.  The Entrance is located about 50 km north (as the crow flies) up the coast from Warriewood. As, however, both are located on peninsulas, they are over 100 km apart by road.

For the first retreat, the "American team" of Linda and Dennis McDonald (Sts. Mary and Mathias, Muscatine, IA), Mary George (St. Rita of Casia, Aurora, IL) and Mike Pacer were joined by Australians Fr. Rex Curry, Sue Berg, Kathy Gray, Sr. Matilde Chai and David Watkins of Pittwater Parish, as well as by Deacon Roberto Corpuz of Chatswood.  On the second retreat, the "Americans," and Fr. Rex, Sue and Kathy were joined by Ann Maree and Fr. William Stevens  (the priest for Our Lady of the Rosary).

Both retreats went "fabulously well."  There was a real enthusiasm and an obvious movement of the Holy Spirit.  Between 25 and 30 individuals have been attending "Growing in Faith" sessions at both parishes.  Everyone involved looks forward to the successful implementation of the LOTW Process in their parish.

Bishop David Walker has been extremely supportive of LOTWEM.  He has graciously provided for Ann Maree and her team to support the implementation and support of the Process in any parish that wishes to take up the Process. For their part, Ann Maree and her staff (despite their already heavy work load) are excited and committed to the success of "LOTW Australia." How great is our God (and His humble servants)! Please pray for these new members of the LOTW "family" and for continued success in bringing LOTW to countless others in Australia!
